About Me
Investor, viticulturist, entrepreneur, mentor, and proud Irishman, Stuart Coulson has worn many hats throughout his career but we’re most excited that the Design for Extreme Affordability program (aka Extreme) has been his passion for the last 10 years.
As part of the six-month Extreme course, Stuart focuses on the business model design and implementation planning for students working to create impactful solutions for developing economies. He brings a wealth of knowledge to both areas.
Stuart was a pioneer in revolutionizing the online travel industry when he co-founded Gradient Solutions connecting airline reservations systems to the web. Having sold the business, Stuart ventured off to get his MBA then started investing in and advising early stage technology developments and social impact organizations. He moved to California, bought a vineyard, skipped the hobbyist tag, and set about creating a product that would attract acclaimed wine makers. He co-founded Trinity Angels and the LaunchBox program at his alma mater, Trinity College Dublin, supporting student entrepreneurs. He came to Stanford. He never left.
