What world will the next generation of students and educators create?

How can we use media to empower educators to step into their agency, use their creativity to imagine more inclusive futures, and make their visions tangible?

How might we shape technology more responsibly?

We’ll tackle these questions and more at SXSW EDU and Interactive! Members of the d.school community are excited to facilitate and participate in a variety of sessions for both conferences. We’ll engage in activities with some of our favorite changemakers and collaborate with Siegel Family Endowment to present the Futures Studio at SXSW EDU. Keep reading for details on all of our events.

The Futures Studio at SXSW EDU

March 4-6, 2024 - Room 11AB
powered by the Stanford d.school with support from Siegel Family Endowment

The d.school is collaborating with the Siegel Family Endowment and SXSW EDU to build a pop-up Futures Studio! This will be a creative space where educators can imagine the futures they want to see and translate those dreams into creative media.

At the Futures Studio, attendees will:

  • Generate media (for example, album covers, songs, and zines) that communicate their notions and hopes for the future – and take what they create to catalyze futures thinking in their communities

  • Discover and get access to world-class print and digital materials on future-oriented design and learn how these materials can be used to support futures thinking in their schools and communities

  • Connect with and learn from others to expand their visions of the future, and leave with a community of dedicated educators and leaders committed to reimagining education

On the final evening of the festival, we will host an open mic/showcase experience where guests can come read from their zines, share the audio they recorded, or express visions from and for the future.
